The Jester is a 1997 thriller movie starring Billy Connolly, Eric Idle, and Kevin Pollak. It follows an American businessman who is kidnapped by terrorists in Europe. The film was directed by Martin Campbell and its music was composed by Jan A. P. Kaczmarek. It is based on the novel "Puppet on a Chain" written by Ken Follett. The screenplay for the movie was written by David Stevens and Janet Thomas - it's their first work for Hollywood films, though they previously contributed to several different projects for TV series including 'Kung Fu', 'Rhoda', 'Barnaby Jones' and 'Cagney & Lacey'. The film was produced by Kirchberger Productions. The film received negative reviews from critics, currently holding a 33% on the rotten tomatoes. Its box office earnings was $10,764,822 in the US.
